Do you want to know why I love Doug & Hana so much? Because they didn’t care if it was snowing or raining on their wedding day, they were just so excited to be getting married. They saw and understood the value of that day, or that moment, above all else. I appreciate that and believe in it myself!
Their wedding was held in the spring (April), but we were surprised when the day turned into a winter wonderland.
Sometimes Colorado weather throws us for a loop on wedding days. April weddings are always interesting here; it can be 70 and sunny, or 30 and white-out-blizzard.
Doug & Hana’s snowy wedding at the Meadows at Marshdale in Evergreen, Colorado is a classic example of ‘never trust the weather report’!
I asked Doug and Hana to tell me more about why they chose the Meadows at Marshdale for their Colorado wedding, and here is what they said:
“We loved the woodsy look without having to drive too far! We fell in love with Meadows at Marshdale instantly and knew it was the venue for us. We love the barn and the outdoor ceremony site.”
Hana chose a beaded lace wedding gown from LUV Bridal in Denver (Madi-Lane Storm)
Doug’s Kenneth Cole Grooms Suit from Macy’s in Littleton, CO is a great example of perfect fit and modern details. (Make sure to check out my blog post about grooms attire for more inspiration!)
Just before their first look, Doug and Hana exchanged letters with each other. It was super sweet and so emotional!
The Red Barn at the Meadows at Marshdale looked incredible in the snow on this beautiful spring wedding day. Doug waited patiently to see Hana for the first time during their private first look. It had been snowing lightly all morning and stopped in the afternoon, leaving us this gorgeous backdrop.
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
“Our first look. It was seriously so magical and so calming.”
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
“Sharing it with the ones I love most and of course marrying my best friend!”
How did you meet?
“We met through mutual friends.”
Tell us about your first date!
“We met at Merle’s in Downtown Littleton. I was so nervous and showed up 15 minutes late but Doug didn’t even care. Now, I’m expected to be at least 15 minutes late!”
How did the proposal happen?
“Doug proposed ON STAGE at a Parachute concert. He promised me prior it wouldn’t be in front of a ton of people and there I was in front of hundreds of people.”
What are some hobbies or activities you love doing as a couple?
“Eating and watching documentaries. Doug loves reading me dad jokes on Pinterest. I love dragging him on walks with the dogs. We love Friday happy hours on the patio!”
What’s your favorite moment from your relationship so far?
“We subscribed for DateBox (a monthly date in a box) and it has been so fun to connect on a different level with fun in-home dates.”
I adore this spring bouquet from Fairytale Floral Design against the winter wonderland in Evergreen, paired with Hana’s idea of incorporating fall colors. It hits all the right notes.
“I have always loved the fall color scheme so I tried to use as many dark colors as I could (burgundy and navy) while also using light colors (dusty rose and gold) since it is a spring wedding.”
The indoor space at the Meadows at Marshdale Red Barn is a beautiful space if the weather prevents an outdoor wedding ceremony, or for couples who prefer to marry indoors. Balconies offer a space for greenery and lighting, and it was a gorgeous place for Doug & Hana to say their wedding vows.
Their spring wedding details included custom signs and a vintage trunk-style card box.
If you could pick one word to describe your wedding ceremony, what would it be?
“AMAZING!!”
What are you most looking forward to in marriage?
“Just going through life with my best friend.”
Doug and Hana had a larger wedding party with 6 on each side, plus Doug’s son. He was a part of almost everything on the wedding day; he was always smiling and is such a great kid!
What are some of you favorite wedding day decor / accessories / items you love?
“I’m obsessed with my ring!! I also love the cake topper I am using. It is my parents. They have been happily married for 37 years! I love all the sentimental things about our wedding and sharing our day with the ones closest to us.”
The fall inspired burgundy paired with soft blush and champagne was gorgeous for their wedding reception inside the Red Barn at the Meadows at Marshdale.
Greenery made it feel really natural and romantic, while light strung overhead created a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It was the perfect match between spring, winter, and fall.

What advice do you have for couples planning their Colorado wedding now?
“Don’t stress! Enjoy the process. Not everything will get done or work out the way you want it to. So many things went wrong on my wedding day and I didn’t even care! It’s all about the moment and the people.”
Are you going on a honeymoon? If so, where are you going?
“We went to Ft. Lauderdale”
