Rachel & George, like many couples, met in college.
Their relationship led to this incredible spring wedding at Baldoria on the Water in Lakewood, CO.
The Cottonwood trees this year in Colorado were INSANE. Kind of like snow – and in a quiet moment together after their ceremony, the cotton sprinkled around them. I had cotton all over myself and my camera bag at the end of the day, but it created some magical wedding photos!
Rachel’s classic lace wedding dress was from Brilliant Bridal. I loved the detail and romantic cap illusion sleeves. She did an amazing job bringing romantic design (Tiffany blue and lace) and modern elements (sequins and greenery) together.
Her heirloom bridal earrings belonged to her Grandmother, and were a perfect complement to her classic bridal style for her incredible spring wedding. I love when couples incorporate sentimental details like this!
Rachel made these gorgeous Tiffany blue bracelets for herself and her bridesmaids.
The vibe in the getting ready suites at Baldoria on the Water prior to the ceremony was really relaxed and happy. There were lots of smiles, and almost no stress at all. This is the way it should always be, just joy and having a great time on the best day.
Harpist Mary Keener provided the background music for the ceremony. (She is always amazing, if you are looking for live music for your Colorado wedding I highly recommend her).
Baldoria on the Water is in Lakewood, CO and offers a garden-style atmosphere with lots of stone, wood, and lush green trees. I can see why Rachel and George chose this venue for their Colorado incredible spring wedding, knowing that they wanted the day to feel both classic and romantic.
I always like to ask my couples a few questions about their wedding; Rachel & George gave me some insight into how they felt about their wedding at Baldoria.
If you could pick one word to describe your wedding ceremony, what would it be?
Classic
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle
I loved her little ring bearer! He was so cute in his vest, bow-tie, hat, and curls – and such a ham for the camera too!
The groomsmen looked fantastic in crisp black tuxedo suits and bow-ties from The Black Tux.
You may not know how I feel about groomswear, but I personally believe that the Groom matters too! Check out my blog post on menswear and grooms attire for inspiration and ideas.
Faith Wilson made the flowers; modern arrangements of greenery and anemone. Green and ivory floral arrangements against these gorgeous sequin bridesmaid dresses, and Rachel’s lace dress, were perfection.
Classic romance meets modern elegance, YES!
Remember the cottonwood blooms? It’s like snow in June, so so gorgeous, super romantic, and the perfect spot for a quiet wedding day moment at Baldoria. The shining sun bounced off the drifting cotton. . .I need more of this, please!
Their reception details at Baldoria included pearl accents on the back of black Chiavari chairs, a globe for guests to sign (Rachel & George love to travel together), and a 3-tier ruffle cake covered in ivory flowers.
Black and gold set the tone for a more formal Colorado wedding reception, with champagne (actual champagne!) being the perfect sparkly accent (just like those sequin bridesmaid gowns).
Rachel and George did a Tango for their first dance, and it was AWESOME!
The reception was a lot of fun and had one of THE BEST Conga lines I have ever seen. Everybody had a blast!
I love a happy, full-of-life, full-of-crazy dance moves reception like this.
What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding now?
Space the day out
As a wedding photographer, I totally agree with this. The wedding day FLIES by, and spacing out the day to allow for plenty of down time to enjoy moments and guests is so important!
Thank you Rachel & George for inviting me to create some amazing wedding photography for your Baldoria on the Water Colorado wedding. Happy travels to both of you!
