I have piles of amazing photos from years of incredible weddings.
Among my favorites, that for some reason don’t always get shared, are detail photos of wedding accessories!
We’re talking shoes, ties, jewelry, and even a few vintage and nostalgic items that make fantastic wedding accessory inspiration for others who are looking for ideas.
These are small things that you can apply in your own style to your own wedding, and while you may be the only one who really gets a good look at them, having them as part of your day will just add to the ‘special’ factor.
The trick with accessories? Keep it personal. The more special it is to you, the better!
This bride loved her sparkle heels so much, that she found a pair of sparkle flats to change into for the reception. Comfort and function, while still staying true to her style.
Who says you HAVE to wear high heels? Who says you HAVE to wear sparkles and straps and bows and ribbons?
If that isn’t really your thing, you do you, friend.
Check out these super fun polka-dot converse bridal sneakers. Not only are converse super comfortable, but they make for a fantastic surprise under a wedding gown!
A great heel or strappy sandle under your wedding dress is the classic go-to option. (Did I mention that I actually love sparkles, as much as I love a pair of polka-dot Converse?)
The addition of a little sparkle in your wedding accessories is not only romantic and possibly even glamorous, but it’s FUN.
Keep the sparkle to one piece only, or subtly add more here and there in your necklace, bracelet, or hair piece.
Want to mix and match casual with romance?
These patterned TOM’S wedding shoes with a simple strand of pearls does the trick. It’s classic, simple, elegant, and perfect for a mountain or backyard wedding. The best part is that TOM’S come in so many different colors and patterns, it’s easy to find something perfect.
A fantastic way to bring a little sentimental detail to your wedding day is to mix and match family heirlooms from both sides of the family.
Earrings, rings, hair combs and pins, handkerchiefs, sashes, and bracelets are all fantastic options. Even a piece of lace from Grandma’s wedding gown can make a beautiful sentiment, sewn into the hem of your dress!
I love when couples choose to bring in vintage and sentimental details for their wedding accessories. It makes things so personal, and the pieces are often beautiful and unique, too.
This pair of earrings that my bride wore belonged to her grandmother. Not only were they a perfect accessory for her wedding day, but they were a small sentimental way to honor somebody she cherished.
Vintage handkerchiefs are a tactile detail; holding them in your hand as you say your vows is a special experience. You can affix pins and broaches that have sentimental meaning, to carry people you love with you, near to you on your wedding day.
You can also tie something like this around your bouquet, or tuck it into a notebook with your vows in it.
The beautiful thing about a simple piece like this, is that it can easily work for anything from the most casual wedding, through the most elegant and formal event.
Versatile and sentimental wedding accessories inspiration, I call that a win-win!
Don’t forget to coordinate your wedding accessories for your wedding theme.
I love how this bride chose snowflakes, pearls, and sparkles for her winter wedding! The heels were a classy and formal shoe for her ceremony, and the sparkle KED’S bridal shoes were perfect to change into for the reception (while still keeping with her winter theme).
As the groom, you might choose to wear a tie, pocket square, or cuff links that have sentimental meaning and family ties.
There are also plenty of options out there for fully custom ties, bowties, and more! I’m a HUGE fan of the custom suit for men, make sure to read my blog post on groom’s attire inspiration).
I love this bold paisley grooms tie and pocket square, coordinated beautifully with custom paisley cuff-links. Don’t be afraid to make a statement!
I am in LOVE with this vintage pocket watch that my groom wore on his wedding day. It belonged to his Grandfather, and much like the sentimental details a bride might carry with her, it had a lot of meaning.
Vintage and sentimental details also have a lot of character! This pocket watch is no exception.
I hope this helps you think a bit outside of the box when it comes to wedding accessories and inspiration for your day! I have so many more ideas, and so much more inspiration where these came from.
