Engagement season is upon us! It’s October, and with that comes family, Holidays, cool air, and beautiful sights to see. It’s the perfect time of year to propose!
Christmas and New Years Eve, in fact, are some of the most popular days to pop the question. If you really want to throw your partner off with a bigger surprise, consider proposing in the days leading up to the Holidays (instead of ON the Holiday, when he or she might be expecting it).
There are some gorgeous places to propose in Colorado, whether you are coming from out of State, or know the State well. If you work with me to photograph your proposal on the sly, I can help you nail down a location and plan something special too.
Let’s get started!
Colorado is known for its local craft breweries. They make a great hang out spot, a perfect date spot, and a really beautiful, friendly place to propose!
Cafe’s are often surrounded by vibrant city life, string lights, and gardens. You can’t go wrong here either, but go with what fits your relationship as a couple.
Consider taking your partner to a favorite spot, or a NEW spot just for fun, and work with the staff beforehand so that you can be seated where you have gorgeous light and a warm environment.
You can propose indoors at the table, or you might enjoy a meal or brew together and then come out front and pop the question outdoors before you leave (I’ll be sneaky and stand in a spot where I can grab the action without your partner ever knowing).
Colorado is also known for it’s incredible views.
There are lots of private, gorgeous overlooks if you know where to find them (and I do!).
You and your partner can have a picnic on a rock, and I’ll be there to catch the action as ‘just another sight-see-er!’.
The location is a spot you can visit again and again to celebrate your ‘engage-aversary’, and it makes a great backdrop for a few of your very first engagement photos together.
In the evening, Denver and the downtown suburbs are often lit up in spectacular displays of twinkling lights and Holiday spirit. When you are looking for one of the best places in Colorado to propose, you cannot go wrong with Larimer Square.
Start your date with ice skating, grab some hot cocoa at a restaurant, and then propose with the twinkling lights surrounding you. It’s not only super romantic, but the crowds will cheer for you!
If nature is more your speed, look into proposing to your partner in Colorado on a hike.
We have 1000’s of trails, and while some of the more popular ones (Hanging Lake, anybody?) might work, there are places just as beautiful that will offer a lot more privacy for you to ask your question.
If you are looking to have your proposal photographed, I’d be happy to give you a pile of ideas for private trails to take a little hike, where you can then create a really awesome experience for your partner surrounded by views, trees, and maybe even a little wildlife.
Evergreen, CO is one of my favorites!
If you and your partner love skiing, love the snow, and love the mountains, the snowy winter landscape might be the perfect place to propose.
You can start your day with a sleigh ride in Breckenridge, CO, or skiing down the slopes in Winter Park. Cozy up together over a warm, outdoor fire pit and propose there with the snow falling around you. Go for a walk on the bike bath outside of the ski resort, and propose on a beautiful blue-sky day surrounded by the winter landscape.
A proposal can even happen on the mountain with spectacular mountain views.
Colorado ski proposal, anyone?
If you are planning a proposal soon, let’s chat. I’d be happy to nail down specific locations based on your personal ideas and taste, plan something really special, and photograph the whole thing just like a sneaky paparazzi photographer.
The photos will be a perfect way to announce your engagement on social media, not to mention having the look on your partners face on ‘film’ to relive the moment.
In the comments below, tell me about your proposal idea, or how you proposed to your partner. Did you hire a photographer? What advice do you have for couples looking to propose and get married?
