In the interest of inspiring all of the winter romantics out there, I’m excited to share this gorgeous wedding.
Merrick & Eliana’s 250 guest wedding at Cielo at Castle Pines happened on a sunny day, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying a winter-wonderland themed wedding (beautifully put together by Donnah Phipps with Poised Events (http://www.poisedevents.com/).
Their wedding was the end of January, but the weather was warm and everyone was outside without coats.
I’d say it was pretty perfect!
The girls all wore matching blue plaid button down shirts while getting ready for the wedding day. You’ll see below that the backs were even embroidered with their role in the wedding party!
Eliana chose classic and romantic details of lace, satin, beading, and pearls.
She also personalized things a bit for her bridal attire with these canvas Keds and the beautiful snowflake on her pearl necklace.
I always love when brides bring hangers, they are a great custom detail that is perfect for photos with the dress! (tip: check Etsy!).
Eliana’s dress had the most beautiful champagne details on the bodice.
Merrick wore a crisp navy & black jacket with satin detailing. I loved this paired with the gorgeous navy chiffon & sequin dresses that the bridesmaids wore!
Merrick ordered these fantastic custom flasks for his groomsmen, complete with their wedding date and monogram. Swanky grooms details like this are always a hit.
What is the Style and/or Theme of the Wedding?
Winter wonderland
How did you choose your wedding theme / colors / venue?
We both find winter to be very romantic so we quickly fell in love with the winter wonderland theme. As for the venue, after searching through just about every possible venue in Colorado, we came across Cielo and it had the perfect “Colorado” feel to it and the big stone fireplace also added to the winter theme.
I loved her cozy shawl, and loved that she chose to wear it even though it wasn’t snowing.
{From the couple}
Traditional Jewish Wedding – There will be a bedeken and a tish prior to the ceremony.
This is where a the bride sits in a chair in one room and is greeted by guests while the groom is in another room signing the Jewish marriage license, then the groom is danced into the room with the bride where he sees that’s its her for the first time and covers her face with her veil and is then danced back into the other room.
The signed Ketubah was placed on display under their gorgeous Chuppah, and their indoor wedding ceremony began.
Merrick & Eliana enjoyed 250 of their friends and family at their indoor wedding ceremony at the Cielo. The whole day was full of so much love, and I really believe that every person attending shared those feelings.
How did you meet?
Eliana’s sister Kaila was dating Merrick’s roommate in college. Without Merrick knowing, Kaila came over on a “guys night” and brought Eliana with her. After about 4 hours of working up some courage, Merrick finally started talking to Eliana and they hit it off immediately.
What are some hobbies or activities you love doing as a couple?
Orange theory fitness (HIIT workout class) Traveling Movie nights Wine tasting Netflix
They chose a three-tier wedding cake in ivory and blue, with beaded frosting and this ice-inspired topper.
How did the proposal happen?
On our first date I took Eliana to dinner at Cucina Colore in Cherry Creek, then we went to the aquarium afterwords to walk around and get to know each other.
So for the proposal, I took Eliana back to the aquarium and proposed to her in the shark room where I could finally find someone to take a picture of us.
When the person was taking a photo of us, I turned to Eliana (totally blanked on my entire speech), got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Following that, I told her we had dinner reservations and I took her back to Cucina Colore (first time back there since first date) and our immediate family was at a table waiting for us to celebrate!
What are your future plans together?
Get married, buy a house, have beautiful babies, and live happily ever after!
